With a few hours between hotel checkout and your next journey, choose luggage storage by working backwards from collection time. Hong Kong Station lists 07:30–21:30, Kowloon Station 08:00–18:00 and Citygate lockers 08:00–23:00. A fee covering 24 hours does not mean you can collect a bag overnight. A location you will naturally pass again is often more useful than the lowest hourly price.
Decide where the bags need to go next
If you will spend the afternoon around Central before heading to the airport, compare Hong Kong Station. For West Kowloon plans, consider Kowloon Station, but its 18:00 closing time may arrive before dinner. Citygate lockers suit a stop in Tung Chung. If your bags are already at the airport and you intend to leave the public area for a nearby outing, look at Terminal 1 storage. Saving a small amount is rarely worthwhile if it creates a return journey across town.
This guide concerns leaving belongings somewhere and returning to collect them yourself. Hotel storage, commercial luggage delivery and airline checked baggage are different services. An HK01 report on luggage services describes airport delivery and doorstep airline check-in as separate products; its older prices and booking deadlines are not used here. A storage counter in an in-town check-in hall does not, by itself, check your bag onto a flight.
Locations, fees and conditions below were checked against operators' pages on 21 October 2026. They are planning information, not a live guarantee of locker availability or acceptance. If your hotel has agreed to hold bags after checkout and you will return there anyway, that may be the convenient option. Ask explicitly about overnight storage, late collection and non-guest access instead of assuming they are included or free.
Compare the location, collection window and payment method
| Option | Published location and hours | Condition to notice |
|---|---|---|
| Hong Kong Station left luggage | G level, In-Town Check-In Hall near Exit B; daily 07:30–21:30 | Pay on collection, in Hong Kong dollar cash only |
| Kowloon Station left luggage | G level, In-Town Check-In Hall; daily 08:00–18:00 | This is not Hong Kong West Kowloon high-speed rail station; Hong Kong dollar cash only on collection |
| Hong Kong airport storage | Terminal 1, Level 5, non-restricted area | Pay on collection; listed cards and electronic payments are accepted, but confirm the counter's collection window for your date |
| Citygate lockers | Ground floor, B2 and B3, P2 car park; 08:00–23:00 | Locker sizes and charges vary by location; check fit and the current operating terms |
The MTR pages for Hong Kong Station and Kowloon Station state their separate service hours. Before planning a late-night or early-morning collection, use the operator's telephone or email on the airport storage page to confirm the counter's collection window for your date.

All times are local to Hong Kong. The collection deadline, last train, closing time of other shops and your flight departure are separate times. Include lifts, floor changes and the walk from the counter to your transport; two nearby map pins can conceal several practical steps.
Hong Kong and Kowloon stations: the same tariff, different hours
Both station pages currently list the same standard per-item tariff: HKD60 for up to three hours; HKD87 for more than three and up to 24 hours; and HKD133 for each additional 24 hours after that. A standard item must be within 85 × 85 × 29 cm and weigh no more than 30 kg. Larger or heavier items attract the published additional charging rules. Ask the counter how an irregular bag, pushchair or bundled items will be counted instead of assuming one outer bag always means one standard charge.
For example, a standard bag left at Hong Kong Station at 10:00 and collected at 16:00 costs HKD87; two such items cost HKD174. Leave the same bags at Kowloon Station and return at 20:00, however, and you have missed its 18:00 service closure even though fewer than 24 hours have passed. Paying a daily rate does not extend a counter's opening hours.

For next-day collection, give the counter both dates and times. Confirm that the proposed storage period is accepted, how passing the 24-hour boundary affects the charge, and what happens if you lose the receipt or another person collects. The tariff helps with budgeting; it does not guarantee acceptance of every item or access at every overnight hour. Keep Hong Kong dollar cash and the collection receipt with you, not inside the stored bag.
Airport storage: compare hourly and daily charges
The airport publishes a standard rate of HKD14 per item per hour or HKD165 per day. Part of an hour counts as a full hour; within any 24-hour period the lower hourly or daily charge applies. A standard bag stored for six hours therefore costs HKD84. Twelve hours at the hourly rate would be HKD168, so the HKD165 daily rate is lower within that period. For longer stays or unusual items, ask the operator to calculate the charge using your actual deposit and collection times.
Size and weight can change the price. The page sets out additional charges when total dimensions—length plus width plus height—exceed 199 cm, or weight exceeds 30 kg. Saying “a 28-inch suitcase” is not enough: measure the external dimensions and weigh it. If near or over the limits, use those measurements to confirm the charge. Listed payment methods include cash, Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, Alipay, WeChat Pay, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay; make sure you have a method you can actually use.

This facility is in the non-restricted area. An airside transit passenger who has not entered Hong Kong cannot assume it is accessible without immigration clearance. Check entry eligibility and the return-to-flight procedure with the airline and Immigration Department first. The separate airport transit and immigration guide explains that boundary.
The airport also states that belongings left uncollected for more than 30 days without prior notification will be treated as unclaimed and removed. This is not an invitation to use temporary storage as long-term warehousing, nor a guarantee of insurance or compensation. Tell the operator if your collection plan changes.
Citygate: check the locker size and the two-hour charging unit
Citygate's mall services page lists lockers on the ground floor, B2 and B3. They are most useful if Tung Chung is already part of your plans. The ground-floor lockers are near the Ngong Ping cable-car terminal; follow the mall's current signs for the exact bank. The locker page shows sizes and current vacancies, but a vacancy seen online is not a reservation for your arrival.
| Size and location | Charging unit during the first six hours | Charging unit from the seventh hour |
|---|---|---|
| Medium, ground floor | HKD25 per two hours | HKD30 per two hours |
| Small, B2/B3 | HKD15 per two hours | HKD20 per two hours |
| Large, B2/B3 | HKD40 per two hours | HKD60 per two hours |
“HKD25 per two hours for the first six hours” does not mean HKD25 for all six hours. Before paying, read the on-site terms for partial charging units, whether opening the door ends the rental, repeat access, payment methods and maximum storage duration. The published tariff alone does not establish those additional conditions.

Check that the case, wheels and fixed handles fit through the opening before paying. Do not force the door shut to make the size work. Keep the phone, receipt or other item needed for retrieval outside the locker. If you plan to return after an evening event, the 23:00 access boundary may make this unsuitable; choose another arrangement whose collection time has been confirmed.
Before handing over a bag, assume it may be inaccessible for a while
Keep travel documents, phone, wallet, daily personal essentials and tickets for the next journey in a small bag you carry. For valuable, fragile or unusual items, check acceptance and liability terms. Staffed storage does not automatically mean full-value insurance. Photograph the outside of each bag, note the number of pieces, and retain the receipt, locker number and contact details. These help identify belongings but do not replace the operator's required proof of collection.

If delayed, contact the operator with the revised date and time before rearranging your onward transport. An airport or station remaining open does not mean a closed storage counter will release your bags. Until the operator confirms otherwise, plan around the possibility of waiting for the service to reopen. A passport locked inside creates a much bigger problem than an extra storage charge.
Put collection into the final afternoon's itinerary
Check the sequence: finish sightseeing, travel to storage, queue and collect, count the bags, travel to the airport or border, then complete the next journey's formalities. Every stage takes time. Do not allocate the entire margin before your flight to another attraction. If bags must be retrieved from Kowloon Station before 18:00, finish afternoon activities early enough that collection does not depend on there being no queue.
For a vehicle pickup, specify the real storage location and floor, and arrange to meet after the whole group has collected all its luggage. A driver does not automatically have authority to collect your stored belongings, and waiting or parking is not necessarily included in an earlier quote. Once the storage location is settled, use the airport and city transport comparison to connect the bags and passengers to the final journey.
Your pre-journey checklist
- Choose a collection point on your onward route and record the station, floor or locker area.
- Confirm closing time and obtain a clear answer for next-day collection.
- Budget using actual dimensions, weight, item count and charging units.
- Carry Hong Kong dollar cash for the two MTR stations; check payment options elsewhere.
- Keep documents, phone, collection proof and daily essentials with you.
- Allow separate time for sightseeing, retrieval, transfers and onward formalities.

Make it your journey
Choose somewhere you can collect your bags on time before filling the final afternoon. For an airport or cross-border pickup, provide the storage location, expected collection-completion time, passenger count and number of bags so the meeting arrangements can be checked.
