Three Grand Auditorium performances remain in November at the 2026 Macao International Music Festival: Turandot on 1 November, Tan Dun's Beethoven Ninth Symphony and Nine programme on 28 November, and his Mozart and Beethoven evening on 29 November. Choose between staged opera, a symphonic focus and a mixed programme, then check the date, age conditions and ticket category. A festival running until 29 November does not mean the same programme plays every night.
Choose the evening you want to hear
The 38th festival runs from 2 October to 29 November 2026 under the theme Silk Resonances. Checked on 30 October 2026, this guide focuses on the three upcoming November Grand Auditorium performances. October events such as Lang Lang's recital have already finished and are not offered here as future booking recommendations. Cultural Affairs Bureau announcement
Macao Daily's preview places international performances and local musical talent within the same programme. That is a useful way to choose: beyond the famous conductor, the 29 November concert offers a conversation between violin and viola soloists and the orchestra. A first-time classical listener can begin by deciding whether a complete stage story or a sequence of instrumental and choral works sounds more appealing.
Choose by programme content, duration, prices and audience conditions, then use the Macau concert-transfer guide to plan arrival and the journey home. Check the ticketing platform for current availability.

Three dates with different musical priorities
All dates below are in 2026, with Macao local time, UTC+8. All three performances are at the Grand Auditorium, Macao Cultural Centre. Prices are published standard ticket categories in Macau patacas, MOP, excluding travel, meals and any applicable ticketing service charges. Enter the specific performance through the official festival programme to check available seats.
| Date and start | Programme and reason to choose it | Published standard prices |
|---|---|---|
| Sunday 1 November, 19:30 | Puccini's Turandot in three acts: a complete dramatic, vocal and staged experience | MOP 980 / 800 / 600 / 500 / 400 / 300 |
| Saturday 28 November, 20:00 | Tan Dun conducts Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Nine: a focused pairing of Beethoven and Tan Dun | MOP 500 / 400 / 300 / 200 / 150 |
| Sunday 29 November, 20:00 | Tan Dun Conducts Mozart and Beethoven: concertante writing, chorus and several composers | MOP 500 / 400 / 300 / 200 / 150 |
Turandot also plays at 19:30 on 31 October. We list 1 November as the November option; these are two discrete performances, not continuous admission between the dates. The 28 and 29 November concerts likewise need separate tickets, not an assumed weekend pass.
Turandot asks for a full opera evening
The official programme page gives an approximate duration of two hours and 40 minutes, including two intervals. It is performed in Italian with Chinese and English surtitles. You need not understand Italian to follow the story, but will divide your attention between stage and surtitles. Ask the ticketing provider about the relevant sightlines rather than judging them solely by ticket price.
The score includes the Chinese melody Jasmine Flower and the familiar aria Nessun dorma. The 2026 production is directed by Jackie Chan and conducted by Carlo Montanaro, incorporating martial arts into its dramatic expression. The attraction is how the full production combines characters, music and staging; a director's name is not a promise that he will appear for a personal meeting.
The programme is recommended for ages 13 and above; children under six are not admitted. A suitability recommendation and a strict admission cutoff are different. Parents of children aged six to twelve should still consider the story, duration and child's interest. Eat before arrival and allow time to find seats; an interval is not a substitute for an unhurried dinner.
The 28th and 29th share a conductor, not an identical programme
The bureau's 29 October update confirms that Tan Dun and the China National Symphony Orchestra pair Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with Nine on 28 November. Choose that evening if those core works are the main reason for your visit. We have not verified a published total duration for this concert, so do not apply the following evening's 90 minutes or promise a particular finish time.
The 29 November programme comprises Beethoven's overture to The Creatures of Prometheus; Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for Violin, Viola and Orchestra in E-flat, K.364; Tan Dun's choral concerto Nine; and Ode to Joy from Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. It should therefore not be described as another complete performance of Beethoven's Ninth.

Violinist Nina Wong and violist Yan Lok Hoi join the China National Symphony Orchestra and its chorus on the 29th. The published approximate duration is one hour and 30 minutes, including one interval. Listen first for the exchange between the two string timbres, then for the change in scale when voices join the orchestra. There is no need to memorise every movement beforehand. The historical string-performance photograph above illustrates the form; it does not show those soloists or the 2026 festival.

Check currency, the actual performance and discount eligibility together
The official ticketing channel is Enjoy Macao, with designated sales points and telephone options also listed. Select the correct year, programme, date and seats, then review the total and ticket collection or use arrangements. Two people wanting adjacent seats must check their seat assignments: the same price category does not guarantee sitting together. Ask before payment about wheelchair positions, companion arrangements or avoiding steps.
The 30% early-booking discount from 13–20 September has ended. Do not budget for November using that expired promotion. The current guide separately lists half-price eligibility for, among others, people aged 65 or over and holders of local or overseas full-time student cards. Each eligible holder can use one concession ticket per performance and must produce the relevant proof at entry. Check the present scope, payment tools and combination conditions rather than assuming any student status or bank card qualifies.
For example, two adults without concessions who successfully purchase MOP 200 seats for the 29th have a ticket-face-value total of MOP 400. This arithmetic does not show that the category still has seats or include other costs. Read sightline notices for a lower-priced seat; a higher price also does not imply a meeting, backstage access or other unlisted benefits.
Tickets are generally non-refundable and non-exchangeable under the published conditions, with separate provisions and announcements for changes such as revised age suitability, special circumstances and adverse weather. Keep the order and recheck performance status before travelling. Tickets, hotels and transport are separate bookings; changing one does not automatically amend the others.
Arrive ready to take your seat quietly
The bureau asks audiences to arrive at the performance venue ten minutes early. This is an arrival requirement, not the time to leave your hotel. Allow separately for collecting tickets, finding the entrance, toilets and reaching your seat. The organiser can control admission for late arrivals or people returning after leaving, and may refuse entry; you cannot assume immediate readmission between pieces.

All three selected events use the Grand Auditorium, not the Small Auditorium. “Near the Cultural Centre” is also too vague as a meeting point. The 2015 and 2023 building photographs provide venue context, not the evening's check-in desk, accessible path or temporary traffic arrangements. Follow the ticket's venue name and current signs. Confirm lifts and seating assistance in advance if needed.
Switch off mobile phones and devices that emit light or sound during the performance. Photography, audio recording and video are prohibited without permission. Audience rules also prohibit bringing drinks, food and plastic bags into the performance space. Finish refreshments before leaving or handle them where the venue permits; a ticket is not blanket permission to carry any item inside.

After the performance, reach the meeting point before the next journey
The festival guide lists free post-show buses for Macao Cultural Centre programmes to Praça Ferreira do Amaral, Horta e Costa, Fai Chi Kei and Toi San, excluding the piano camp and outreach activities. Check the actual boarding point and arrangements before and on the day. These destinations do not mean free door-to-door service to every hotel, Cotai, Zhuhai or Hong Kong.
For public transport, use the Macau bus guide to prepare payment, then check the evening's actual route. After checkout, leave large luggage somewhere with confirmed collection arrangements rather than arriving at the auditorium in search of storage. A cross-border return needs its own document, checkpoint and onward-transport checks; a published approximate programme length cannot guarantee the connection.
Distinguish the expected performance finish, the moment your group is assembled, and arrival at a usable pickup point. The opera on the 1st is relatively long, this guide has not confirmed the 28th's duration, and the 29th's 90 minutes is approximate. Roads and departing crowds can still affect the journey. Let one contact consolidate the venue, people, bags and final address so changes are communicated clearly.
Your pre-journey checklist
- Choose the specific 1, 28 or 29 November programme and use Macao time, UTC+8.
- Distinguish the opera's language, surtitles, recommended age and under-six exclusion.
- Check the different concert programmes; the 29th is not a second complete Beethoven Ninth.
- Verify available seats, currency, eligibility documents and change terms through the official channel.
- Reach the Grand Auditorium early and follow device, recording and carried-item rules.
- Confirm post-show bus destinations, luggage collection and any cross-border return separately.

Make it your journey
Secure your chosen evening and valid tickets first, then send HONGKONGGO the venue, group size, bags and destination after the performance to discuss transport. A vehicle enquiry does not include performance tickets or reserve seats.
