The 2026 Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival runs from 29 October to 1 November at Central Harbourfront Event Space and Tamar Park. Choose the side you plan to use, agree how your group will reunite, and then plan the hotel or cross-border return. Closing time is not the same as being ready to board a car.
The late opening changes the journey home
The Hong Kong Tourism Board lists Thursday opening from 7:30pm to midnight, Friday and Saturday from 1pm to 1am the following morning, and Sunday from 1pm to midnight. These details were checked on 13 October 2026; revisit the organiser's page before travelling.
HK01's coverage is useful for discovering food and tasting experiences, while the organiser confirms the location, hours and entrances. The transport implication is simple: after your final stop, you may still need to collect belongings, find friends and walk to an agreed meeting place. Do not schedule pickup as though all of that happens instantly.
Choose a side of the waterfront together
The organiser identifies an Admiralty entrance beside Tamar Park and a Central entrance beside Central Pier No. 10. Consider your hotel's location, the group's walking needs and that day's traffic arrangements when choosing between them. An event entrance does not automatically provide somewhere a private vehicle may stop.
Agree which side the group will use before asking the coordinator to establish a suitable drop-off. Use an entrance name and a recognisable landmark when communicating afterwards. “We are by the harbour” leaves too much room for misunderstanding, particularly when friends leave the event through different exits.
Leave space to enjoy the evening
If you plan to taste wine, arrange a driver or public transport in advance, and nominate one person to handle the group's communication. Friends may browse different stalls, so agree a final meeting time rather than allowing the first person at the car to wait for everyone else.
Avoid putting the last experience right against a firm departure deadline. An early flight, work appointment or longer journey the next day may make an earlier finish preferable. If you purchase goods to carry across the border, check the customs requirements that apply to you; an event ticket or vehicle booking does not provide an exemption.
A hotel return and a cross-border return need different plans
For a Hong Kong hotel, compare public transport, taxis and a booked transfer for the actual evening. A lightly packed couple with a convenient route may not need a private car. A larger party, travellers with mobility needs or a group continuing to another city may benefit more from a coordinated pickup.
For Shenzhen or Guangzhou, share the likely ready-to-leave window and exact final address. Late festival opening does not establish that every crossing, service or vehicle route operates at the same hours. If the timing is unsuitable, compare staying overnight with a next-day departure rather than forcing a fragile same-night itinerary.
Confirm the terms that matter after dark
An enquiry should include the festival date, party size, starting address and preferred departure side. Mention any stop before dinner, extra purchases, separate departure groups or multiple hotel drop-offs. Traffic management can change the usable pickup location, which must remain subject to arrangements on the day.
Ask when waiting starts, how to report a late departure and what terms apply to extra stops or changes. Booking ahead is useful because these questions can be settled before you go. It does not imply that a vehicle can wait directly outside an event entrance.
Your pre-journey checklist
- Date and that day's opening hours checked with the organiser.
- Central or Admiralty meeting plan agreed with the whole group.
- Event departure distinguished from passenger-ready time.
- Hotel or cross-border itinerary, waiting and extra stops confirmed.
